Success at the COP isn't based on the US doing anything good, but we need to keep them from doing anything bad.

The key message: at least 40% reduction for Annex I countries by 2020

All countries have to ensure that warming stays as far below 2 degrees as possible

  • Area under the stairs in the Westin is the budget youth media/messaging war-room. Make that a story in itself.

  • Erin posted a youth quotes document on the wiki to make the media's group job a bit easier—everyone add their quotes

  • Met with Yvo De Boers in informal meeting.

  • The survey has been created to help us figure out how we can harness the youth network more effectively, for COPs and beyond

    • It's up on SurveyMonkey—Whit sent out the link on the MOP3 list—fill it out before tomorrow!

  • Handouts for next Thursday's youth/funders networking event are available—next Thursday, 5-7:30 PM in Geothermal

• Denpesar Event – Saturday, December 8^th

  • WALHI is joining with dozens of other orgs in Bali for a full day of events on Saturday – International Day of Climate Action

  • The Parade is the key portion “Cultural Parade for Climate Justice” 2PM-4PM at the Renon

  • In the morning there is cultural dialog, followed by music, speakers, poetry, comedy.

  • Be sensitive, stick to the topic of Climate Justice, no shouting, nothing with megaphones—just a walk. Don't stop. Don't mention the local government.

  • Take pictures/video, but don't shoot people without asking, and stop if anyone feels uncomfortable.

• On Sunday

  • International Youth Network Meeting at Mimpi Bungalows in Kuta

  • Later that afternoon, a big aerial art message on the beach in Kuta to send a message to delegates and the world.

    • Gather at 2PM to help setup on the beach

  • The Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior trip has been postponed to next Wednesday/Thursday
